Vote in our April Charity Poll for Chester Women’s Aid

Posted on 10 Apr 2026 by Emily Atkinson-Dalton
Every month, we run our charity poll here at Discount Promo Codes, and honestly… It's one of the parts of the job I look forward to the most. There’s something very real about it. Not just numbers, not just clicks, but true impact that helps one amazing charity in the important work that they do. This April 2026, one of the three charities we’ve chosen to support is Chester Women's Aid — and I wanted to take a bit of time to properly talk about who they are, what they do, and why your vote this month genuinely matters.

Why Chester Women’s Aid Matters (And Why We Chose Them)

When we were putting together our April shortlist, we weren’t just ticking boxes or looking for big names. We wanted organisations doing hands-on, often unseen work. The kind that doesn’t always make headlines but changes lives quietly, every single day.

Chester Women’s Aid stood out straight away.

They’ve been supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse for decades now, and their approach isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s personal. It’s human. And in many cases, it’s urgent.

Domestic abuse isn’t always visible. That’s the difficult part. It can be hidden behind closed doors, behind smiles, behind “everything’s fine” conversations. And organisations like this are often the first real lifeline someone has.

That’s a big responsibility. And they carry it well.

What They Do (Day to Day)

Chester Women’s Aid supports people experiencing domestic abuse across Cheshire, but it’s important to describe their role properly. They are a volunteer-run charity organisation that believes everyone has the right to live free from fear and abuse. The charity has been in existence since 1976, when Chester Refuge was first set up and run by volunteers.

Over time their role changed, and today Chester Women’s Aid continues to support the refuge and other local specialist domestic abuse services, while also working to improve awareness in the community. They do not describe themselves as a direct service provider in the way some other charities do. Instead, they focus on supporting local domestic abuse services, raising awareness, and helping people through their crisis grant programme, which is facilitated by direct service providers in and around Cheshire.

That matters, because it means any support they receive can strengthen the wider network around survivors, helping people move forward, rebuild, and access practical help at a time when they need it most.

How You Can Support Them (Beyond Voting)

Voting is the main thing we’re asking for this month - but it’s not the only way to support Chester Women’s Aid.

You could:

● Share their work with others

● Raise awareness about domestic abuse support services

● Engage with their campaigns online

● Fundraise for Chester Women’s Aid

● Volunteer or donate directly if you’re able

Even just talking about organisations like this helps. It breaks that silence that often surrounds these issues.

Still… if you do one thing this April, make it your vote.

A Final Thought

Vote for Chester Women’s Aid if their incredible work resonates with you. Share the poll with others. Talk about it. It only takes a minute, but the impact stretches much further than that.

We’ll be running the poll until 30th April 2026, so there’s time — but honestly, don’t put it off.

Vote now and help Chester Women’s Aid to provide essential support to women in need.
