Vote for Plymouth Highbury Trust & Support Adults with Learning Disabilities

Posted on 09 Mar 2026 by Emily Atkinson-Dalton
This month, we're highlighting three brilliant charities competing in our March poll, and Plymouth Highbury Trust is one of them. They do some genuinely amazing work supporting adults with learning disabilities across Plymouth, helping people build confidence, learn new skills, and feel like they actually belong in their community. We've been impressed by what they do, so we wanted to give them a proper platform and include them in our charity poll. The winner gets 20% of our profits donated directly to them — which is a genuine help for a charity like this. It's not a massive cash injection, but it makes a real difference to the people they support.

The thing is, voting costs you absolutely nothing! It literally takes a few seconds, and you don't need to use any of our vouchers or codes to do it. You just vote for the charity you want to support. That's it. So if you think Plymouth Highbury Trust deserves the backing, or you fancy supporting one of the other two charities in the poll, now's your chance. Find out more about their incredible work below.

Who Are Plymouth Highbury Trust and What Do They Do?

Plymouth Highbury Trust is a local charity that helps adults with learning disabilities live the lives they want. They're all about giving people the support they need to grow, feel confident, and actually belong in their community.

The charity runs a variety of different services. They help people pick up new skills, try new things, and feel like themselves without judgment. Safety and respect are hugely important for them — they want everyone to feel genuinely included.

Community Support Service: Their Community Support Service is one of the many things that this incredible charity offers. People come together during the day for activities, to meet friends, and just enjoy themselves. It's not forced or formal — friendships naturally happen, and people get stuck into activities enjoy and create memories for a lifetime.

Social Clubs: Then there's the Social Clubs. These are just relaxed places where adults with learning disabilities can hang out, have a sing, dance, chat, socialise and have fun. A lot of people find it's the highlight of their week — a proper chance to be themselves and feel part of something.

Beyond that, they offer Advocacy, Appointeeship, and Supported Living. They also run WISER, a course which teaches people about healthy relationships and domestic abuse awareness.

All in all, it's about helping people build confidence, gain independence, learn skills, form friendships and feel more connected to the world around them.
