What Does Bright Futures Do?

Bright Futures is a Young Women’s Charity based in South Tyneside, providing vital support to girls and young women aged 4+. An award winning charity, established in 2012, the charity has grown from a small, grassroots initiative into a recognised regional leader in supporting young women’s mental health, safety, education, and empowerment.

The team behind Bright Futures includes experienced youth workers, project coordinators, volunteers, and peer mentors — many of whom have lived experience of the challenges the charity addresses. From school-based support, to one-to-one support and community campaigns, Bright Futures exists to ensure every girl and young woman feels heard, valued, and equipped to reach their full potential.

To date, the charity has supported over 52,000 young women and girls living across Tyne and Wear.

What Services Does Bright Futures Provide?

Bright Futures delivers a wide range of projects and services across education, health, personal development, and community engagement. These services are tailored to the needs of girls and young women facing multiple disadvantages, including poor mental health, low confidence, exploitation, social isolation, or exclusion from mainstream education.
