Music for All is one of our wonderful charities taking part in the Discount Promo Codes charity poll this October. If you have yet to vote in the poll, can’t decide who to vote for or just want to find out more about these incredible causes, then read on to find out all about this small, UK charity helping disadvantaged music makers across the UK. What does Music for All do?


Music for All is dedicated to changing lives across the UK by improving access to music making for people of all ages. They are a passionate UK charity ambitious in their mission of helping disadvantaged music makers to experience the thrill, excitement, creativity and other many benefits of making music.

Music for All were Established in 1996, and they have a fantastic track record when it comes to the support that they provide. Over the past five years alone they have awarded over £300,000 in cash grants, donated hundreds of instruments and equipment to individuals, community groups and educational establishments, as well as providing free ‘Learn to Play’ experiences for thousands of people.

Music for All is a small charity, comprising of one full-time and two part time staff members, plus nine trustees (see here). The team oversees the efficient running of Music for All’s charitable activities which include their annual grants programme with four funding rounds each year. Their grants offer unique funding opportunities for community projects, educational establishments and individuals in specific categories (see here). Their flagship annual ‘Learn to Play’ events, offer free taster music lessons to individuals throughout the UK (this year on 7 & 8 October 2023).

 

What services do Music for All provide/what campaigns are Music for All involved in?


In the 22/23 financial year, Music for All awarded over £60k in instruments/equipment and over £58k in cash grants to worthy causes and individuals.

Last year’s ‘Learn to Play’ weekend had offered over 2000 free taster music sessions to individual music makers, either new or lapsed; through this event, venues can sign-post music makers to their next steps into continuing their music-making journey (with resources including where to learn, community groups, shops, venues, studios etc).

Music for All advocates for, and promotes the life-changing benefits of making music via media and events, and in collaboration with organisations with aligned goals across the music and charity sectors, as well as developing focussed projects with partner organisations, which enable a greater number of disadvantaged music-makers.
