October Charity Poll: Smalls for All – Because Everyone Deserves Dignity

Posted on 09 Oct 2025 by Emily Atkinson-Dalton
At Discount Promo Codes UK, giving back is at the heart of what we do. Every month, we invite our community to vote for one of three nominated charities. The charity with the most votes receives 20% of our monthly profits — a simple, collective way for us all to make a difference.

This October, one of our incredible nominees is Smalls for All, a Scottish charity doing something beautifully simple but powerfully life-changing: giving underwear to people who need it most.

It might sound small — but it makes a world of difference.

Who Are Smalls for All?

Founded by Maria Macnamara MBE in 2010, Smalls for All was born from one woman’s trip to Ethiopia, where she discovered that countless women and girls didn’t own even a single pair of pants.

That discovery led to a mission: to restore dignity, comfort and confidence, one pair of pants at a time.

Smalls for All collects new underwear and new or gently worn bras for people living in poverty — both in the UK and across Africa. Through partnerships with charitable organisations, they reach women, men and children in orphanages, schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, refugee centres and poor or remote communities, who otherwise go without something most of us never think twice about.

For many, receiving underwear is not just about clothing — it’s about dignity, hygiene, and self-respect.

As the team at Smalls for All put it:

“Everyone deserves the dignity that underwear provides.”

Why They Do It

In parts of Africa, underwear is often considered a luxury item. Many women and girls own just one pair — or none at all. Without it, they face serious challenges.

Girls often miss school during their periods because they don’t have the protection or confidence to attend. Women in refugee camps and slums face increased health risks from infections or poor hygiene. And something as simple as a bra can help provide a sense of comfort and normalcy for those who have suffered trauma or displacement.

Even here in the UK, the cost-of-living crisis has pushed many families into hardship. Smalls for All now also supports UK-based charities that help people experiencing poverty, homelessness or domestic abuse — ensuring that underwear reaches anyone who needs it, close to home or across continents.

What They Do in Practice

Smalls for All operates a donation hub where thousands of parcels arrive each year, sent by generous individuals and community groups. Volunteers sort through items, making sure each donation is clean, high-quality and ready for distribution.

From there, the underwear and bras go to trusted partners in countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Uganda, and Ethiopia — where they’re distributed directly to those in need.

The logistics may sound simple, but the operation is huge — and growing every year. Thousands of kilos of underwear move through their warehouse annually, and every single item represents one person helped, one smile restored, one life touched.

How You Can Support Smalls for All Beyond Voting

Want to do more? Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Donate Bras or New Pants

They accept:

● New pants (for children aged 3+, women and men)

● New or gently worn bras

You can post them directly to their donation centre (details on their website). Schools, offices, and clubs often hold “Smalls Drives” — a fun and easy way to make a big impact together.

2. Give Financially

Running a small charity takes resources. Every pound you donate helps them pay for essentials like rent and electricity for their hub. You can donate online at smallsforall.org.

3. Spread the Word

Share their story on social media or tell friends and colleagues. A single post can inspire more donations than you might imagine.

4. Fundraise or Volunteer

From sponsored events to corporate partnerships, there are plenty of ways to help. If you’re local to West Lothian, you could even volunteer at their sorting centre!
